Coated Vicryl Plus Antibacterial Suture is a violet braided absorbable suture designed to provide reliable soft tissue approximation and ligation. Its coating enhances smooth passage through tissues, reducing drag and trauma during surgical procedures. The antibacterial property is incorporated to reduce the risk of surgical site infections, which is critical in high-risk or contaminated wounds.

The suture is made from a copolymer of glycolide and lactide, ensuring predictable absorption and excellent tensile strength retention. It is composed of multifilament braided fibers, providing superior knot security and flexibility. The violet color facilitates easy visualization during placement and removal.

The embedded antibacterial agent, triclosan, inhibits bacterial colonization and biofilm formation on the suture surface. In vitro studies demonstrate a zone of inhibition against common pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, MRSA, and MRSE. This feature supports enhanced patient safety by reducing postoperative infection risks.
